What is the purpose of this book?
Keeping Receipts provides readers with a story of romance and redemption. We have a front row seat as a budding romance develops between Liam and Lorraine. We watch deep-seeded differences and past issues attempt to keep them apart. The story showcases the redemptive power of love and forgiveness.
Are there themes that you find turn up again and again in your work? A common thread?
There are four common threads that usually appear in my work. They are; Faith, Redemption and Forgiveness, Moral dilemmas, and Love and Relationships.
Which character or part of the book was the most fun to write? Which part was the hardest?
Daisy Whittington’s character was fun to write because she is a funky faith-filled fifty-something year old. She loves her sons and will do anything to protect them. She is smart and has a head for business. She’s a sharp dresser and takes pride in her appearance. And she has a great sense of humor. She makes things happen.
It was difficult to write Lorraine Davis’ character. She’s holding on the past like loose tooth. She can’t move forward until she lets go. I wanted to slap some sense into her a few times, but instead I walked with her through the learning process.
Can you tell us something that even your most loyal fans may not know about you?
Most people aren’t aware that I wear hearing aids. I’ve been diagnosed with profound hearing loss in one ear and extreme hearing loss in the other. But that doesn’t stop me from doing what God has tasked me to do. God is still good.
