1.    What motivated you to write “Diva’s Dating Assessment Guide: Girl, Please” and share your insights on dating?

The Diva’s Assessment Guide: Girl, Please was originally published in 2009. I felt compelled to write it due to several conversations with a co-worker regarding his young adult daughter navigating the dating scene. At the time, I was also teaching high school and it became apparent that many of the young ladies needed guidance regarding dating.

2.    Can you give us an overview of the key topics covered in the book?

Some of the topics covered are assessment of self, determining non-negotiables, asking questions to gain knowledge of a potential mate, and the importance of communication.

3.    How did you come up with the title “Diva’s Dating Assessment Guide: Girl, Please”?

I came up with the title because it’s for divas and it’s an assessment guide,   so it has guiding questions. I’m a former teacher, so I’ve always believed that you don’t know where the gaps or deficits are in learning until you do an assessment. I realized when it came to dating, me saying having conversations and questions was too generic so I developed a guide. Certainly, this is just a beginning. Even with the title, Diva’s Assessment Guide, I felt like the title needed something else so remember when I was writing this book this was prior to 2009, so we had MYSPACE and I went to the app and asked for suggestions and I remember Author and Publisher, Kisha Green throwing out Girl, Please.  So, many times people will hear me refer to this publication as the Girl, Please book.

4.    What unique perspective or approach does your book bring to the dating advice genre?

It requires one to gather information and write the information in the book.

5.    Can you describe the assessment process outlined in the guide and how it helps readers evaluate their dating prospects?

It is a hands-on and interactive approach. It requires one to take time to gather information and assess the information. It requires the diva to ask questions and obtain information and in doing so, I hope that it adds perspective or considers what is important in dating.

6.    What common dating pitfalls do you address in the book, and how can readers avoid them?

Lack of knowledge and lack of information can be hurtful.

7.    How has the dating landscape changed since you first published the book in 2009, and does your advice still apply today?

Surprisingly, many of the same issues that were present in 2009, continue to be prevalent in 2024, The advice in the book is still applicable, so much so that I was asked to republish the book as I had taken it out of circulation.

8.    According to your guide, what are some of the most important qualities you believe someone should look for in a potential partner?

One of the most important things is knowing who you are, and what you require in a mate and not settling.

9.    Can you share memorable feedback or a success story from a reader who applied your advice?

I often hear, “I didn’t think to ask that…that’s a good question.”

10.  Are there any new chapters or updates you would consider adding to the book based on the evolution of dating trends over the past years?

Yes, I totally believe in evolving and am open to adding more things to this assessment as the need presents itself.
