What inspired you to write this book?
God.
How did you come up with the title?
Everything about this book was from God; He told me to write it. The title Beauty Beyond the Tears dropped into my spirit. It wasn’t something I brainstormed or wrestled with; it was placed on my heart. God gave it to me because He knew this story would minister to women who’ve carried pain in silence.
What message or theme do you hope readers take away?
I want readers to walk away with what I said in the book: that there is beauty on the other side of pain. I want them to know they’re not alone, that God still sees them, and that He’s able to heal, restore, and fulfill His promises, even when it looks impossible. This isn’t just my story; it’s a testimony for others still in the waiting.
What was the hardest scene to write—and the most rewarding?
Honestly, the entire book was hard to write. I was grieving the loss of my baby. But every page was also rewarding, because I knew I was helping someone else who might be going through the same pain. That alone made every tear worth it.
When did you start writing this book, and how long did it take to complete?
I started writing this book shortly after losing my baby. It was birthed from that pain, and it came together in God’s timing, not mine. I didn’t rush it. I allowed the Holy Spirit to guide me through the process.
How does this book compare to your previous work (if any)?
This book doesn’t compare to anything I’ve written in the past. This is God’s book. It came from the deepest parts of me, from my heartbreak, my healing, and my obedience. I didn’t write this just to write a book. I wrote it because God told me to.
Did you always know how the story would end?
No, I didn’t. I was still walking through the pain when I wrote it. There wasn’t a neat ending. It was me being faithful in the midst of grief, believing that somehow, God would use it for His glory.
Why did you choose to self-publish or traditionally publish this book?
I chose the path I did because God instructed me. This book is sacred. It’s deeply personal. And He knew I needed someone close to me, someone who understood my journey, to walk with me in publishing it. Every step was led by God, and I chose obedience over everything else.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to write in your genre?
Pray first. Ask God to lead you. Don’t write just to be seen or heard—write because He gave you something to release. Let your words be guided by purpose, not pressure.
What three words best describe your book?
Faith. Hope. Love.
Which quote or scene do readers mention to you the most?
Most people are moved by the part where I talk about our parents and how I had to stay strong for our family. The line that really hits home is:
“While we often hear that loss is personal, and although that’s true, some losses are so deep they ripple through generations. Losing our baby wasn’t just our heartbreak. It touched the core of our families.”
What’s one question you wish readers would ask?
I wish more people would ask:
“Are you still believing God for His promise to carry your and Chris’s baby to term?”
Because the answer is yes. I’m still believing.
Do you have anything else you’d like to add?
No, I believe the message has been spoken through the pages. I’m just grateful it’s touching lives the way God intended.
Synopsis:
Beauty Beyond the Tears: Finding Strength After Loss
What do you do when your womb carries loss instead of life? When is the silence louder than your prayers? When the tears won’t stop, and you wonder if God still sees you?
In this book, author, speaker, and faith-filled woman Kate Thurman opens the door to one of the most vulnerable chapters of her life: the heartbreak of repeated miscarriages. But this book is not just about grief; it’s about what God can do with it.
Through raw honesty, prophetic insight, and biblical reflection, Kate walks with readers through the shadows of sorrow into the light of healing, hope, and divine restoration.
As she shares her personal journey and the spiritual encounters that sustained her, Kate offers more than comfort; she provides a call: to trust God’s timing, to believe in His promises, and to hold on when all seems lost.
This book is for the woman who’s weary from waiting, who’s questioned her worth, and who’s cried herself to sleep. It’s for the woman who wants to believe again that her story isn’t over, that her body isn’t broken, and that God still has something beautiful in mind.
This isn’t just a book, it’s a sacred space to be seen, strengthened, and reminded:
You are not alone. Your pain is not the end. And beauty is still being born, even through your tears.
