Author Feature: Artemis Craig

This week’s Author Feature celebrates the creative journey of Artemis Craig, a writer whose work reflects heart, imagination, and a deep love for storytelling.

Growing up in rural Birmingham, Alabama, Artemis was influenced by two powerful forces in her household: the hardworking determination of her steelworker father and the intellectual guidance of her educator mother. These early influences helped shape her perspective and passion for the written word.

Artemis later pursued her dreams at the University of Southern California, earning a BFA in Film Writing for Cinema and Television. This background allows her storytelling to unfold with cinematic detail, making her poetry and narratives feel vivid and immersive.

Her love for the arts extends beyond writing. Artemis is actively involved in the literary community through the Gifts of a Wordsmith group, and she brings her work to life through live performances at the Carver Theater’s “On Stage” showcase. These performances allow audiences to experience the rhythm, emotion, and storytelling power behind her words.

At the heart of Artemis’s inspiration is her son, Roderic, who continues to motivate her creative journey and passion for storytelling.

Readers can look forward to her upcoming poetry collection, Southern Fried Comfort Food: Recipes to Encourage the Soul, a project that blends warmth, reflection, and encouragement through poetic expression. She is also completing her first novel, A Little Taste of Death, a sci-fi murder mystery that promises intrigue and suspense.

Living between Birmingham, Alabama, and Newport News, Virginia, Artemis Craig continues to build a body of work that celebrates creativity, storytelling, and the power of words.
